Football Blitz 1st to 4th Ballyduff


This Blitz took place on June 8th. Well done to all our pupils.

 

End of Year Mass


Mass was celebrated on June 16th. The sixth class were presented with booklets: memories of their time here in Scoil Chriost Rí.


We especially wish our sixth-class pupils, Jacqui O’Connell, Hazel Cantillon, Bridget Canty, Anna Maria Harty and Tadhg Diggin all the best and every good wish as they transfer to secondary school.


Our 6th Class received a lovely T-Shirt/water bottle/Keyring printed by Trophy World, a lovely named candle by Candle with Care in Castleisland and their “Yearbook”, which we hope will provide them with lots of wonderful memories of their time in primary school.


 

Magic Show June 20


Thanks to Ger and Tommy for a lovely entertaining show. It was really enjoyed by all.


 

Ice Cream Treat


Thanks to the Board of Management for providing a wonderful treat for our pupils. Richard Egan and Tommy Murphy from Platinum Event Hire brought their Ice Cream Cart to school last Monday. They provided a lovely selection of Ice Cream and Toppings.


 

Visit to Ardfert Quarry 21st June


Thanks to John O’ Carroll for the invitation, and Conor for the guided tour. was lovely to experience being on the floor of the quarry. We all learned a lot.


 

School Tour


The Junior pupils travelled to Tralee Activity Centre and the Senior children travelled to Jamie Knox Aqua Sports in Castlegregory. All had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed their trip. Thanks to the Board of Management for subsidizing the bus.



 

Fun Day / Sports Day

We enjoyed running and novelty races. The focus of our day being “fun.” It was a tremendous success. Everyone received a medal of participation.


 

Field Trip to Lerrig Lough

Thanks to Geoff Hunt for facilitating our field trip to Lerrig to examine and explore the flora and fauna of Lerrig Lough.


 

Aistear Programme

THE BEACH


This month the children did Aistear under theme of the “The Beach” They made sandcastles, they painted rocks worn smooth by the sea and they built miniature rafts which they evaluated out on the water.


 

Emergency Services


Garda Pat and rescue officers Ger, and Bernard from Glenderry Coast Guard unit visited our school on Wednesday. They gave our pupils lots of information about staying safe over the summer especially around the water and on the beach. Ger also gave a drone demonstration and the use of drones in air search and rescue.

 

Internet Safety - Child Protection

Zeeko ran a workshop for our pupils on Thursday 9th and covered topics such as cyberbullying and staying safe online Thanks to Sarah for a highly informative workshop.


 

Harvest Time


It was harvest time for our cabbages before we went on our holidays. Great crop this year.


 

Biosphere Calendar Winner


Congratulations to Joanne Canty whose picture of the Jay bird was selected for the 2023 Kerry Biosphere Calendar. Well done Joanne .


 

Junior Entrepreneur Project


Congratulations to our Senior Room for the fantastic work they have done on their JEP Project. They have been awarded a Top Teams Award. Twelve schools in total received awards out of four hundred schools. This is a huge achievement for our school. Thanks to the parents and the school community for supporting our project. A special thanks to Trish O Riordan for all her help and inspiration. With her guidance and patience we were able to produce fabulous products to sell in our ‘Little Shop Of Stitches’. The pupils received a fabulous trophy. Thanks to our local shops Ernest Hanly and Flynns , our local café -The Forge, for allowing us to sell our products.


The class also received a Merit Award in the following categories. Creative Pioneers, Genius Product, Go Green Top Teams. Well done everybody.
